Terbo scores DIRTcar Nationals prelim victory at Volusia
Utilizing the opening three DIRTcar-sanctioned nights as a test session, Tyler Erb and the Best Performance Motorsports team returned to Volusia Speedway Park last week for the 55th annual Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals.
Erb opened the week with a ninth-place finish on Monday and a 16th-place result on Tuesday, before rebounding in Wednesday’s event, which featured a 59-car field split into three groups. After qualifying on the front row for the 20-lap feature, Erb led all but the opening lap to secure his first victory of the season, worth $5,000.
With competition shifting to World of Outlaws sanctioning from Thursday through Saturday, Erb backed up his fourth-place finish on Thursday with another strong fourth-place result on Friday.
In Saturday’s $20,000-to-win DIRTcar Nationals finale, Erb suffered a broken J-bar on the opening circuit, ending his night before a lap was complete.
