Terbo grabs second-place finish in DIRTcar Nationals prelim

With Monday’s opener postponed midway through the event, Best Performance Motorsports and Tyler Erb returned to Volusia Speedway Park (De Leon Springs, Fla.) on Tuesday for the second round of the 53rd annual DIRTcar Nationals.

Sneaking into Tuesday’s preliminary with the fifth-and-final transfer spot in his heat, Erb managed to climb six positions in the 25-lapper despite getting collected in the multi-car pile-up on lap 17.

On Wednesday with the 48-car field split into three groups, Tyler backed up the fourth-fastest qualifying effort in his group with a fourth-to-second run in his 20-lap prelim feature. He chased Mike Marlar to the checkers with Nick Hoffman coming in third.

His bid for Monday’s rescheduled feature on Wednesday night came to an end with a third-place B-Main finish.

With Thursday’s event World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series sanctioned, Erb followed up a third-place finish in his heat with a consistent 13th-place run in the 35-lap A-Main.

After Friday night ended with a B-Main outing, wet weather washed out Saturday’s DIRTcar Nationals finale, ending Erb’s weekend early.
