12th-place finish in Mountain Moonshine Classic prelim

After losing Thursday’s Grassy Smith Memorial at Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, S.C.) to bad weather, Best Performance Motorsports and Tyler Erb returned with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) on Friday afternoon at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.) for the doubleheader event. Drawing 45 cars for a pair of preliminary features, Erb followed up a sixth-place outing in his heat with a 12th-place finish in the 30-lap prelim.

On Saturday, Tyler missed a transfer spot in his heat race and B-Main, forcing him to use a provisional into the $50,000-to-win Mountain Moonshine Classic. Starting in 23rd, Erb gained four positions in the 60-lap affair to place 19th.

Tyler remains in third in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
